Since long Like minded faculty of medicine of HMC,KTH and LRH like many other Physicans across the country were thinking of the need of a Physicians society to cater for their academic interests including research and patient management. Their struggle proved fruitful when the first general body meeting of the society was called on 21st April 2018 in the auditorium of Hayat abad medical complex Peshawar Pakistan. In this general body meeting 22 senior faculty members and more than 40 junior doctors participated. Professor Muhammad Usman Khattak from medical A Unit Hayat Abad Medical Complex was the focal person of the event. Among the other senior Physicians present on the occasions were Professor Javed Iqbal Farooqi and Professor Khalid Mahmood from Lady Reading Hospital, Professor Mumtaz Ali Marwat, Professor Mohammad Noor Wazir, Professor Shiraz Jamal and Professor Amanullah from Hayat Abad Medical Complex, Professor Hashim uddin Azam khan and Professor Muhammad Ishaq Khattak from Khyber Teaching Hospital and Professor Masood ur Rehman from Naseer teaching hospital.
Subsequently on 22/04/2018 Whatsap group of Pakistan society of physicians(PSP) was created and on 23/04/2018 Press release of first GBM was issued. On 26/04/2018 Membership forms received & drive started by dispatching forms to LRH/KTH and other institutions.
Membership fee for regular members(qualified) and associate members (trainees and other non specialists) was fixed as follow
Regular member;
Life Time=5000 (Renewal Not Needed)
Ordinary=1000 Rs (250/Year Renewal Charges)
Associate member;
Rs 500 once only (Renewal not needed)
On 13/05/2018 meeting of governing body at Hujra Restaurant Ring road Peshawar took place where the registration process and future working plan was discussed.
On 06/06/2018 in the holy month of Ramadhan Dr Muhammad Usman Visited social welfare office at university road opposite Islamia College Peshawar & applied for Registration. The registration process was later on looked after by Dr Israr medical A HMC. The process was facilitated by Mr Yousaf Jan of Werrick Pharma through his brother who was an employee of social welfare deptt. After a lot of documentation and hard work finally the registration was granted on 08/02/2019.
On 04/07/2019 Meeting of PSP founders with Prof Amir Ghafoor (representative of PSIM)at Hujra took place. Prof Muhammad Usman ,Prof Hashim uddin Azam, Prof Javed Iqbal Farooqi, Prof Khalid Mahmood, Prof Mumtaz Ali and Prof Muhammad Ishaq represented PSP.Dr Somia of PSIM contacted in mid July to meet up in last week of july 2019 at Islamabad which could not be materialized uptill now. Next day Prof Javed Iqbal Farooqi a founding member of executive council presented a confidence move on present cabinet ( President- Dr Muhammad Usman,Vice President- Dr Zia uddin, General secretary- Dr Tariq Mehr, Joint secretary- Dr Anwar ul Haq, Finance Secretary -Dr Fawad Rahim, Press secretary-Dr Awais Naeem and Dr Shah Gul and coordination secretary- Prof Aman ullah) in general body of PSP which was endorsed by more than 80 percent of the registered members.
On 20/07/2019 first cabinet plus councillors meeting was held at medical A Hayat Abad Medical Complex. A single point agenda of holding first international conference( PSP-Con 2019) was discussed in detail and next grand meeting at Pearl Continental with event organizer Mr Muzamil was scheduled on 27/07/2019.
First meeting with pharma with reference to PSP-Con at HMC took August 2019
13/11/2019;Last joint meeting of all committees meant for PSP-Con 2019 at Shelton Razidor. All chairmen conference in relaxed mood.
On 30/05/2019 Iftar dinner at PC discussed the idea of first conference at Peshawar.
On 06/12/2018 a mini symposium was organized at Hayat Abad Medical Complex. Theme for the symposium was, Fever with haemorrhagic manifestations.
Subsequent weekly ( each Wednesday ) meetings of organizing committee at HMC were scheduled to know the progress on tasks assigned to members of the committee.
On 06/11/2019 a meeting held at Med-B HMC.
On 27/07/2019, a meeting was held at PC Peshawar .Various committees for upcoming PSP-Con 2019 were constituted. Prof Javed Iqbal Farooqi was nominated as scientific committee chairman. For the organizing ,finance and steering committees Prof Mumtaz Ali Marwat, Prof Khalid Mahmood and Prof Muhammad Usman Khattak respectively were nominated.
Pakistan Society of Physicians (PSP) was established on 21st April 2018 with following aims & objectives:
- To provide a platform for Physicians to share their experiences, exchange viewpoints and to update their knowledge in the field of Internal Medicine.
- To stimulate interest in the research in Internal Medicine.
- To organize regular seminars, conferences and meetings for promoting exchange of views.
- To publish scientific literature for distribution amongst the members.
Regular Membership:
- Eligibility:
- Candidate for Membership should be a physician holding the degree of MBBS or equivalent recognized by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC).
- Candidate should have either Postgraduate Certificate like FCPS (Medicine), MRCP or Diplomat American Board of Medicine.
- Types of Regular Membership:
- Ordinary Membership: All persons fulfilling above criteria and paying membership fee on annual basis.
- Lifetime Membership: Shall be open to any person who is eligible for ordinary membership on payment of an amount fixed by the Executive Committee from time to time.
- Associate Membership: Postgraduate Trainees are eligible to apply for Associate Membership of the Society. Check out book of ra online free.
